Education Verification It’s easy to fake a diploma. We call schools directly to verify your candidates’ educational background.
Employer Verification Be certain your candidate’s resume isn’t padded. We’ll contact a previous employer to verify your candidate’s position.
What types of background screening give the best results?
Many factors contribute to a background-screening package that’s most effective for a given business, including the industry, the expected turnaround time, and budget. Criminal Background Screening is generally the foundation of a pre-employment background check, while additional services, like Education and Employer Verification can mitigate candidate dishonesty and speed-up the hiring process.
Where does GoodHire get its data?

What info do I need to get from candidates in order to run a background check?
At a minimum, GoodHire will need your candidate’s Social Security Number, first and last name, date of birth, and current home address. We’ll also need to know if your candidate has ever lived in California. Depending on the additional screening services you select, we may need more information about a candidate’s educational and employment history. Where applicable, GoodHire clearly outlines the specific information needed.
Is my candidate’s sensitive personal data stored securely?
Absolutely. All transmission of personal data uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), a robust protocol for encrypting data online (check your browser’s address bar for the “https://” prefix—this means you’re surfing with SSL protection). HTTPS connections are used throughout GoodHire’s checkout process for payment protection, and whenever you’re logged in to the site.
How does GoodHire deliver my reports?
To protect your candidates’ privacy and ensure the security of their data, background reports will be available on the GoodHire website. You’re automatically notified by email when a report is complete, with the option of incremental notification upon completion of various sections of the report. If you prefer not to be notified via email, it’s easy to turn off this feature in the Account Settings section.
How long does it take to complete a background report?
Before we can deliver your first report, there’s a one-time delay as GoodHire verifies your business per FCRA guidelines. This typically takes between 24 to 36 hours, and again, is only necessary before issuing your first report.
After the one-time company verification is complete, report delivery time varies with report type. Our Value Report offers the speediest delivery, often nearly instant. The Standard Report adds an on-site county criminal record and Terrorist Watch List check, which takes approximately 1–3 days. Finally, the Comprehensive package (which adds employment and education verification to the mix) can take up to 5 days to complete.
Any time you make a purchase, we’ll provide an estimated delivery time for completion. Also, to save you time, each section of the report is viewable on completion, regardless if another section is still in progress. Read more
